Gabrio Bini makes natural wine on the volcanic island of Pantelleria, a tiny spit of rock in the Mediterranean between Sicily and Tunisia. Bini's wines reflect on the unique, remote nature of the island. His vineyard, Serraghia is at a high elevation where the ocean breeze keeps the climate moderate year round, despite the southerly latitude. His vines were planted 100 years ago on ancient terraces and are managed without modern machinery, worked entirely Biodynamically with weed control help from his horse. The Fanino Rosso is a blend of red and white varieties, Pignatello and Catarrato, that ferment on the skins in buried clay amphora.
