Ruth Lewandowski, Boaz Zero Testa Vineyard (2016)

( 0 Reviews )
While there is no person named Ruth Lewandowski, Evan Lewandowski names his winery after his favorite book in the bible, Ruth.He makes natural wine in Salt Lake City, Utah with grapes from various vineyards in California. The grapes are sourced from site specific plots that Evan carefully vets to ensure quality. He then drives the already fermenting grapes on a refrigerated U-Haul to finish and bottle in Salt Lake City.
While making wine in Utah might sound a little nuts, Evan views Utah as a geological haven of Utah with great potential for vines. The plethora of different soils and rocks offers a unique micro-terroir and Evan has the goal to plant vines at a extremely high altitude site (6,400 ft high) near Bryce National Park. Yet, the promise and excitement of California keeps calling him back with his U-Haul.
Boaz is a Carignan blend from the Testa Vineyard in Mendocino. The Carignan is from one acre of dry farmed land with 65-80 year old vines. Plummy, beet, black pepper. Concentrated darker, purple fruits with generous acid.
