Domaine Chamonard, Fleurie La Madone (2016)
After Jospeh Chamonard passed away in 1990 his daughter Genevieve and her husband, Jean-Claude Chanudet took over the domaine. Chanudet, who is nicknamed “le chat,” follows in his father-in-law’s footsteps to make pure, and balanced natural wine.
La Madone is the best parcel in Fleurie and has more granitic soil. The parcel is very small so it is rare to find especially at this price. The Gamay is hand-harvested late in the season leading to an elegant wine bursting with flavor. Very aromatic, red berries, violets, and earth. Long finish with beautifully integrated fruity notes
Will develop withage, but is also tasting delicious right now
