Some of you may have heard of him, some of you maybe not. For those of you that have, he needs no introduction. For the rest, let it be known that Daniel Ramos is the Garnacha whisperer. Daniel is old school both in his viticulture and vinification, he makes pure wines where Garnacha shines.
El Altar is very old Garnacha, vines are up to 100 years old, planted at 800 meters near the town of El Barraco in the Sierra de Gredos. The soil is a combination of schist and granite soils. Powerful while elegant. Destemmed and crushed grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in two 600-liter demi-muids for 12 months.
