Description

Chateau Lestignac is a family domaine first started in 1617 then reborn in 2009 when Mathias Marquet and his wife Camile made their own wines rather than selling grapes to negotiants as the previous few generations had.

This young couple are inspired by nature and the environment, farming their 30 acres of vines organically and biodynamically with an aim to improving life in the soil and the region. Work in the cellar is equally natural; only indigenous yeasts for fermentation and no additives other than a minimal use of sulfur as needed.

"Blizzard" grapes are purchased from Biodynamic neighbors.85%  Sauvignon Blanc from Château Tourmentine in Monestier. 15%  from Michel Prouillac in Sigoulès. Both located 5 minutes driving from Lestignac. In the glass, it looks like a pale, pristine straw. The scent has some tropical overtones but is mostly muted. Starfruit and Meyer lemon are only two of the many green and yellow fruits that fill the palate. The acidity is just right, and it mixes with a smooth, shea butter-like waxiness. Would go great with a springtime supper of grilled asparagus and a lemony pasta.
