Marco's flagship and the wine that started it all - this is the first vintage to be crafted in his make-shift garage winery in downtown Milan. Named in reference to a term from local Neapolitan dialect that translates roughly to 'ink,' the Ognostro was born of Marco's desire to recapture the unique terroir of Taurasi where he is from. 100% Aglianico sourced from a 25 year old vineyard in the ancient Montemarano area of Taurasi--in his opinion the best part of the region.
The wine is fermented and aged in a mix of clay amphora and fiberglass - no oak influence here! Soulful, zen-like and pure, the wine balances plush and spicy black/red berry fruit with mystical layers earthy funk and tart balsamic acidity. Aglianico at its most pure and unadorned.
Marco is not from a winemaking family. He fell in love with wine as a hobby and quickly started visiting iconic winemakers and getting his hands on as many bottles as possible. He started a friendship with Cornelissen and decided to start making his own wines!
