Description

"Damoy owns 5.5 hectares of this spectacular grand cru. Clos de Bèze lies to the north of Chambertin, at the same altitude of 275 to 300 meters. The incline is steeper, especially at the top, and the brown, highly pebbled soils are shallower, often exposing the bedrock below. This wine is sourced from two mid-slope sites: 70% comes from the southern part of the Clos, with vines planted before 1920, and the balance is from the far northern section, planted in 1947 and 1985." - Bowler

"This is slightly more restrained and more floral than the regular cuvée though there is ample spiciness to the very ripe dark currant, forest floor and sandalwood-scented nose. This too possesses a highly seductive texture that is slightly finer, which is interesting given how big, powerful and concentrated the broad-shouldered flavors are, all wrapped in a strikingly complex and even longer finish that is slightly more structured. This is seriously impressive."
- Allen Meadows, Burghound, January 2018

"An opulent style, featuring blackberry, plum, sandalwood, vanilla and toasty, smoky oak aromas and flavors. Powerful, complex and impressive. Reveals a slight vegetal element in the background as this winds down on the finish. Best from 2024 through 2050. "
