Julien Hamou Lopez's grandfather first planted vines in the village of Coruña del Conde in 1970 but left Spain to work in wine and barrel making in France for the next 40 years. In 1990, he returned to Burgos and with all of his passion, experience, and enthusiasm and cultivated Coruña del Conde's 8 hectares into a unique and biodiverse farm with balance and the utmost respect for nature. His goal was to only make living wines from grapes, unlike many other people in Ribera del Duero using commercial farming.

In 2012 Alberto López Calvo passed away, and in 2013 Julien was able to purchase the winery from his family. Together with his wife, Angelica, and a few cousins began to work towards the wines of modern day with the same philosophy as his grandfather: working naturally from the vineyard to the bottle. About 60% of the vines are centenarian and the youngest are around 23 years old. Their land has always been cultivated sustainably and has never been treated with chemicals, pesticides or herbicides. They plough consistently and alternately to maintain and strengthen the life of the subsoil. If necessary, they sometimes treat with liquid manures of nettles, horsetails and camomile produced on the estate, with occasional use of whey, dandelion, garlic as needed too.
