Description
Cynar is an artichoke based bittersweet liqueur known for its versatility and distinctive flavour; its taste is enriched by an infusion of 13 herbs and plants. The name of the drink derives from Cynar scolymus, the botanical name for artichoke, as artichoke leaves lend the distinctive flavour. Originally created in 1952, it has become a classic Italian amaro perfectly showcasing the quintessential properties of these traditional regional bitter Italian liqueurs. The new higher proof is based on the original recipe with a heightened sense of bitterness that straddles the line of old school amaro and a more intense alpine style. Notes include menthol, eucalyptus, licorice root, sage, dried chiles, roasted artichoke, spicy celery salt, root beer, and much more.
