100% Frankernet Cab (a.k.a. Cabernet Franc)
We always used to sell the grapes from our 4 hectares of Cabernet Franc vines to other producers. International varieties are not really our thing! However, one year we decided to make a small batch of just 500 bottles and in no time at all it had been snapped up by friends and family. Spurred on, we decided to release the official version the following year but, true to our principles, it couldn’t be an international variety… so the (oh so) local variety, Frankernet Cab, was born!
Winemaking: Good question! This is an interpretative wine that, in many ways, is made up as we go along depending on how we are feeling that day! What we can say however, is that it combines a little bit of everything: some whole bunch, some time in amphora, stainless steel, oak, and even glass demijohns.
Tasting note: As the name suggests, Tomatierra (Earth Connection) is a lively, electric wine. It is a wine that refuses to be pigeonholed, combining both young, red-fruit vividness with more mature notes of cassis and blackcurrant. As such, it works well as an aperitif wine but can also stand up to red meats and hard cheeses.
