The production of Chartreuse is still overseen by the Carthusian Monks of La Grande Chartreuse near Grenoble, France. Made from 130 alpine botanicals in accordance with a 1605 formula, this distinctive spirit has been widely imitated but never equaled. Chartreuse Yellow is the milder and sweeter of the liqueurs, displaying enticing cardamom, anise, thyme, coriander, wildflower, licorice, and nutmeg notes.
